Fake News

Fake news is like a virus it spreads very quickly and it has potential to cause riots. Fake news spreads mainly through word of mouth and social media.  2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, which claimed over 60 lives and displaced over 40,000 people, were a result of videos circulated on WhatsApp. According to Wikipedia Indian security and intelligence agencies reportedly identified nearly 5000 social media handles from Pakistan which were spreading fake and false propaganda on CAA, some using deep fake videos in the process.  Rajdeep Sardesai, a well-known journalist with a national news channel on August 13 2020 tweeted that former President of India Pranab Mukherjee has passed away, although he really passed away on 31st august 2020 after 18 days of his tweet.  Spread of fake news can cause many disastrous consequences, so it is our duty that we do not share any information which is 100% authentic.
